WARMTH

April 27, 2015

I’ve got sunshine
On a cloudy day
When it’s cold outside
I’ve got the month of May.
~Smokey Robinson/Ronald White (The Temptations, The Temptations Sing Smokey)

We live in a world that provides many of us with warm weather during much of the year. It makes living easier, more comfortable. As humans, we have devised ways, relatively convenient ones, which allow us to maintain our body heat even in colder weather. We come inside, to a warmed environment, shed our outer clothing, and relax.

Our connections with others also provide warmth, a sense of comfort and safety. We can sense when another is open and friendly, has a wide smile or arms, and invites us to join them. We often choose to spend time with people who emanate warmth and joy, mainly because we feel better around them. We can decide to be ones who provide that warmth, too.

Warm/cozy. Appreciated/protected. Heart-based/open.

Do you have a favorite way to stay warm in a cold situation?

  1. Thank you Beth! Right now as I’m typing to you from the balcony of our holiday home (arrived yesterday) at the sea, it is sunny though getting chilly. I put on socks a half hour ago. Socks keep me warm!

    • I love having cozy feet…then the rest of me feels good! Enjoy the smells and sounds of the ocean.
