Bus stop, bus goes.
We stayed, love grows.
Under my umbrella.
~Graham Gouldman (The Hollies, Bus Stop)

Keeping off the rain or sun, umbrellas provide a safe dry environment, shelter from the storm. We like our comfort, the sense that we have overcome obstacles and made a world in which we are protected. Often, this need keeps us from taking risks and exploring, moving past our comfort zone.

Dry/cool. Protected/sheltered. Cocooned/ cautious.

Can you stretch outside your favorite place of safety?

  1. I’ve always shunned the umbrella preferring to take my chances – and getting soaking wet as a result on more than a few occasions – nice post Beth … thank you

  2. Like Susan, I’m not big on umbrellas. If I happen to have one fine but that’s rare. I’m too spontaneous and love all that nature has to offer, unless it’s too violent of course. I like this post a lot, especially the opening song verse. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

    • Loving nature and all is has to offer; what a wonderful image of you standing in a fine mist, with a smile on your face!
