MUSIC

April 15, 2015

All things shall perish
From under the sky.
Music alone shall live.
Music alone shall live.
Music alone shall live.
Never to die.
~Traditional German round

It’s a universal language. We don’t need to understand French or German to appreciate their music. Babies move to its beat long before they can walk or talk. Drums vibrate our cells, violins mimic human voices, and beats lift us off our seats.

Instruments and rhythms change around the world. Different cultures use music for rituals, ceremonies, and traditions. How many times have you been to a birthday party without Happy Birthday being sung? Not often, I hope!

Eyes closed or open, sitting or standing, music can move us to tears or to action.

What is your favorite music for dancing?
