PHases

April 29, 2012

Life is just a phase you’re going through…you’ll get over it.

We know about natural phases: spring goes to summer, then fall and winter. The moon is new and grows to full and returns to new.

We go through phases, too. Crawling, walking as babies. Gawky and rebellious as teen. Perhaps a career and/or family phase. A mid-life crisis. Getting old.

Natural phases go in cycles. The seasons start again. The moon returns. The tide rises and falls.  All in timing we can predict, patterns that have gone on forever.

Ah, well, actually not forever. If we can stand way, way back and look at the history of the universe, we see that our view of cycles and phases is just a blip in the bigger scheme of things.

Similarly, we see our life as sequential. Birth, teens, adulthood, death. What happens if we step farther back and look?
